Our Story
Our obsession with sandals began during our first visit to the Amalfi Coast – the breathtaking coastline dotted with beautiful little towns, each with their own history and personality. Blue skies, crystal clear water, pebbly beaches… our idea of heaven.
The Amalfi Coast is renowned not only for its natural beauty, but also for the art of sandal making. In each town resides a handful of family-run businesses that have been producing sandals for decades. Each have their own methods and techniques, passing the craft down from generation to generation. Every sandal is entirely handmade – a luxury that is becoming rare in today’s world of fast fashion, and a tradition that we would like to help preserve.
That’s where the idea for Maiori Minori Sandals was born. Bringing you luxury sandals, hand made in Italy using the finest Italian leather and crystal embellishments. Promoting the work of Italian artisans that are truly passionate about their designs, the materials they use and the quality of their craftsmanship. Slowing down to appreciate the beauty of a product that has – and will continue to – transcend the seasons.
And our name? You'll be familiar with the more frequently visited towns along the Amalfi Coast – Positano, Amalfi and the island of Capri. But dig a little deeper and you will find some hidden gems. Maiori and Minori, two seaside villages nestled in between picturesque beaches and citrus groves; both are full of Italian charm and embody the unique spirit of the Amalfi Coast. The perfect namesake for our sandals.
We love wearing our Maiori Minori Sandals for a lazy day under a striped umbrella at the beach, soaking up the sun and cooling off in the cobalt blue water. We love them just as much dressed up for our evening ‘passeggiata’ through the town before enjoying an aperitivo in the piazza and a bowl of spaghetti vongole under the lemon trees. It’s not just how our sandals look but how they make us feel. A sense of relaxation, freedom, simplicity, elegance and glamour – all the things that make the Amalfi Coast such an incredible place.
